Driving Design Base On Service

Lets face it, no matter how good of a web developer or project manager you are, the bottom line driving success to your overall project is end-user experience.  Thousands of dollars are spent every day by small, medium and large businesses trying to develop fancy new graphical user interfaces (gui) that tie into multiple third party API’s.  This may look good on paper and the drawing board, but how does it affect the use of your every day user.  I think all of us can recall at least one instance in the past month where we’ve seen something in an application and gone “Whaaat?”

If you work in the Information Technology field, you probably hear the phrase “it’s important to backup your data” at least once per week.  You’ve also probably experienced the jaw-dropper when you lost data that you wish you hadn’t.  But how many of us still continue in our old ways and take on the risk of not safely storing our data?

Today we are going to review a solution that was originally developed for our 72Photos image hosting community.  We have since made it a standard in our operations process and use variations of it throughout our network of sites and even some client work.  Read the rest of this entry »
